Certified Fundraising Executive. 25+ years mobilizing resources across Africa.

Dr. James Ngungu Njagu, PhD is a Certified Fundraising Executive (CFE) and a leading authority in resource mobilization with over 25 years of experience. An alumnus of the University of Nairobi and Washington State University, Dr. Njagu has designed and led high-impact fundraising strategies, built strategic partnerships with global development agencies, philanthropists, and the private sector, and mobilized significant resources for transformative programs across Africa.
His pioneering work includes the establishment of the East Africa Community Partnership Fund, supporting initiatives in peacebuilding, democratization, and economic development.
A sought-after consultant, trainer, and author, Dr. Njagu has held key leadership roles at the East Africa Community, ChildFund International, AMREF, and Plan International Kenya. His acclaimed publications — Nuts & Bolts of Mobilizing Resources, The Art and Science of Designing Projects and Writing Winning Proposals, and Winning Practices in Grants Development & Management — have shaped best practices in the sector and remain in active use across the region.
For most of the last two decades, African organizations seeking fundraising support have had two options: international firms that parachute in for a workshop and leave, or generalist consultants treating resource mobilization as a side capability bolted onto strategy work.
Dr. Njagu founded Resmob Solutions in 2018 to fix that. He wanted a firm whose only job is helping African universities, NGOs, corporates and government agencies move from scattered proposal submissions to a systematic, diversified funding pipeline.
Refined over 25 years and codified in Dr. Njagu’s published works, the FUND Method is the framework taught in our classrooms and applied in the field by alumni across East Africa. It is the system organizations use to move from one-off proposal wins to a resilient, diversified funding pipeline.
Identify the donors, partners, and funding instruments that fit the work, not just the ones that are easiest to apply to.
Read the funder’s strategy, theory of change, and decision criteria. Most proposals fail because nobody read past the call for proposals.
Shape the engagement before the proposal lands. Co-design where possible, and prepare the donor before the formal ask.
Run the awarded grant cleanly: compliance, reporting, stewardship. The next grant is earned in how you delivered the last one.

Since 2018, we have trained more than 500 organizations and 2,000 professionals across 12 African countries, delivering resource mobilization curricula for universities, corporates, and NGOs.
